CDC/US Breastfeeding Committee bi-monthly teleconference

The next CDC/US Breastfeeding Committee bi-monthly teleconference for state breastfeeding coalitions, is scheduled for December 9th from 2-3:30 p.m. Topic to be announced. Mothers’ sleep survey

Well-known researchers in the field of breastfeeding/lactation are asking for participants in a new survey regarding “Mothers Sleep and Fatigue”

Ohio Breastfeeding Alliance General Meeting - Summary

The Ohio Breastfeeding Alliance General Meeting was held from 1 to 4 p.m., April 18, 2008 at the Columbus Marriott Northwest in Dublin, OH. Approximately 25 persons attended. The Leadership Committee reported on:

• The revised Vision, Mission, Goals and Objectives
• Progress toward the development of OBA as a breastfeeding coalition in Ohio, including:
• Download Progress Report
• Coalition-building history from 2005
• Registering (in process) Ohio Breastfeeding Alliance name and Articles of Incorporation by an attorney on behalf of OBA
• Proposed bylaws (copies shared for review during the meeting) and approval process by vote of Active Members. (Bylaws will be posted at OBA Activities if adopted by a vote of the Active Members.)
• Membership fee structure to be implemented
• Recruitment of members
• As of June 1, 2008, the OBA Yahoo group Ohiobreastfeeds will become a forum only for OBA Members
• Analysis of 2006 Survey of Community Activities re: breastfeeding in Ohio. (This has also been referred to as a needs assessment.)
• Possible “introductory” project(s) for OBA; several possibilities discussed
